alpha-Lipoic acid exerts antioxidant action at the cellular level for the preservation of good health.
alpha-Lipoic acid (ALA) is an organic compound present in cells throughout the body. It acts as a coenzyme within the mitochondria of cells for energy production; however, its action as a powerful antioxidant throughout the body elevates the status of this critical compound for the maintenance of general health. Its universal action is due to the fact it’s both water‑ and fat-soluble, unlike vitamins C and E, which are uniquely active in the water‑ or fat-based regions of cells, respectively.
