Bach flower Chestnut bud, the bud of benevolence

Chestnut bud is the English name for the bud of the white-flowered horse chestnut, Aesculus hippocastanum, which is collected in April. This tree is more commonly referred to as horse chestnut or common chestnut. It is a line tree, of the Hippocastanaceae family, very common in European and North American cities. It can be admired in countless botanical parks and public gardens, in private parks and also in schoolyards. A single chestnut tree is enough to honor the spring with its abundant flowering and, during the summer season, to protect young and old from its much appreciated shade.

Botanically, the chestnut bud is classified among the perular buds because of its thick scales that form leaf primers before falling. This part of the bud is called the perule. It is covered with a sticky material essential for bees to make propolis. This is useful for them to seal the hives. Propolis is a 100% natural substance of plant origin, widely recognized for its protective and therapeutic properties.
