Whether animal or vegetable source, proteolytic enzymes have in common part of the process of protein digestion.

Most enzyme supplements contain proteolytic enzymes, also known as proteases, which digest proteins. These enzymes include trypsin, chymotrypsin and pancreatin from (derived from hog pancreas), bromelain (from pineapple enzyme), papain (papaya enzyme) and fungal and bacterial proteases.
