Chitosan is a dietary fiber derived from the shells of crustaceans that has been shown in non-clinical studies to bind to fat and cholesterol in the digestive tract. NOW® Chitosan contains LipoSan ULTRA®, a patented high-density form of Chitosan. A published clinical study has demonstrated that LipoSan ULTRA®, taken as directed, may aid in the support of healthy body weight and serum cholesterol levels already within the normal range. NOW has also included Chromium in this formula. Chromium is an essential trace mineral that works with insulin to support healthy blood glucose levels and plays an important role in the proper utilization of protein, fat, and carbohydrates.
Usage
Adult Dosage: Take 1-2 capsules daily with meals.
Ingredients
Each capsule contains:
Chitosan (LipoSan Ultra®) (from Shellfish Chitin) 500 mg
Chromium (from Chromium Chelavite®) (HVP AAC*) 100 mcg
HVP AAC*= hydrolyzed vegetable protein amino acid chelate

Caution
Consult a health care practitioner prior to use if you are taking any other medications, are diabetic, have renal insufficiency, chromate or leather allergy, or are being treated for a psychiatric disorder. Do not use if you have shellfish allergies, are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not take any fat soluble supplements (Vitamin A, D or E, essential fatty acids) within 4 hours of taking this product. May experience headaches, insomnia, sleep disturbances, irritability and mood changes.
