Product description

Vitamin B5, also known as pantothenic acid, is an essential nutrient necessary for the formation of coenzyme-A (CoA). It plays a pivotal role in the metabolism and synthesis of carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. In addition, this vitamin is involved in tissue formation and is critical for various biological functions.

Discovered and named in 1939, vitamin B5 was first isolated from rice husks. The term "pantothenic" is derived from the Greek word "pantothen," meaning "from everywhere," reflecting the widespread presence of this vitamin in different foods. It is found in a wide range of sources, including eggs, meats, whole grains, and nuts.

Vitamin B5 aids our bodies in releasing energy from the food we consume. It also contributes to tissue generation, the production of antibodies, and the healing process. Additionally, vitamin B5 supports the adrenal gland, which plays a crucial role in hormone secretion, including cortisone. These hormones assist metabolism, fight allergies, and help maintain healthy skin, muscles, and nerves.

Pantothenic acid also plays a significant role in the release of energy, as well as the metabolism of fat, protein, and carbohydrates. It is involved in the creation of lipids, neurotransmitters, steroid hormones, and hemoglobin. Moreover, this vitamin is believed to help combat wrinkles and the graying of hair.

Insufficient intake of vitamin B5 may result in symptoms like fatigue, headaches, nausea, tingling in the hands, mood changes, and cardiac instability. More severe signs of deficiency could include frequent infection, abdominal pains, sleep disturbances, and neurological disorders such as numbness, abnormal sensations, muscle weakness, and cramps.

Like other B-complex vitamins, vitamin B5 is water-soluble. Water-soluble vitamins travel through the bloodstream, and any excess is eliminated in urine. This means our bodies need a continuous supply of these vitamins from our diet.
