Heartburn Essentials regulates gastric secretion and soothes the digestive tract, offering relief for heartburn due to gastritis. Deglycyrrhizinated licorice (DGL) provides traditional support for soothing the gastrointestinal tract and promoting the integrity of the mucosal lining. It support the body’s natural defence mechanisms by stimulating the mass, quality and production of mucous, a major component of the stomach’s protective lining, while decreasing the secretion of gastrin, the hormone responsible for gastric acid production. DGL helps decrease inflammation in the gastrointestinal tract by inhibiting the activity of cyclooxygenase and phospholipase A2 enzymes, reducing prostaglandin formation, and promoting healthy platelet function. The antioxidant activities of DGL decrease the release of reactive oxygen species from neutrophils at the site of inflammation, further protecting gastrointestinal tract health. Heartburn Essentials also contains gamma oryzanol, artichoke, marshmallow and slippery elm, which are all well-recognized for their use in Herbal Medicine.
