Product description

Krill(Euphasia superba)

Krill a very small Antarctic shrimp-like zooplankton. It is one of the most abundant biomasses on the planet, producing very high quality omega-3 (EPA-DHA) oils. It also has a very high antioxidant property. The naturally high levels of EPA and DHA omega-3 fatty acids found in Krill Oil have propelled this oil to the forefront of recent nutritional topics. EPA and DHA are the polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) that have been identified as the main factors that contribute to the health benefits associated with omega-3 oils. Both these fatty acids are vital for optimal health. DHA is a component of brain phospholipids and has been shown to be important for brain function and vision. The phospholipid makeup of krill oil closely resembles that of human brain phospholipids, leading to the idea that krill oil phospholipids are easily incorporated into brain cells and supportive of brain function. EPA, on the other hand, has been attributed largely to anti-inflammatory pathways important in the prevention and mitigation of the componentsof cardiovascular disease.

Krill oil is effective in relieving emotional and physical symptoms of PMS such as irritability, mood swings, cramps, bloating and weight gain. Furthermore, as compared to fish oil, krill oil was significantly more effective at managing PMS symptoms, most likely due to higher amounts of and a favourable combination of antioxidants and EPA and DHA phospholipids. Krill oil has been clinically proven as an effective nutritional support for the maintenance of blood lipid and glucose levels within healthy ranges. It is significantly effective at reducing blood glucose, total cholesterol, triglycerides and LDL levels. The antioxidant capabilities of krill oil have been found to be over 48 times greater than that of fish. This has been attributed to the presence of high amounts of antioxidants Vitamin A, Vitamin E and astaxanthin.
